Reese Cleghorn interns announced for 2020

Four journalism students have been selected as interns for the summer of 2020. The Reese Cleghorn Internship program hires outstanding student journalists to intern in MDDC member newsrooms each summer. These interns were selected from a pool of highly-qualified applicants. This is one of our most geographically diverse groups, with one student each from University of Maryland, Baltimore County, University of Maryland, College Park, Macalester College and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. The intern selection committee reviewed nearly twenty initial applications, which included a personal essay, published clips and educational and professional references. MD Online Political Advertising law ruled unconstitutional

The Fourth Circuit has struck down Maryland's controversial online political advertising law, affirming a lower court decision. This litigation stemmed from Maryland's requirements, passed in 2018, that would force news organizations to publish certain information about online political advertisers on their websites and posed tremendous burdens to newspapers.
