Ashley Rende awarded Salesperson of the Year 2018

Ashley Rende of the Baltimore Business Journal is MDDC’s Salesperson of the Year for 2018, and Judy Heintzelman is recognized for her contributions to the Frederick News-Post with a Memoriam Award. This award honors a sales executive who runs circles around their peers, exemplified by setting and exceeding sales goals, building customer relationships, understanding of the client’s business and development of agency relationship..

The entries were judged by Susan Wineland-li, advertising sales director at the Virginia Press Association. This year, there were four very strong nominations.  Member publications are lucky to have such standout sales people representing their organizations.

Ashley Rende’s nominating manager, Baltimore Business Journal’s Annie Payne, has watched Ashley succeed consistently over the years.

“Since Ashley started with the Baltimore Business Journal in 2014, she has exceeded her revenue goals four out of her five years. In 2014, she exceeded her goal by 74%. In 2015, she exceeded her goal by 4%. In 2016, Ashley exceeded her goal by 13% and in 2018, she exceeded her goal by 25%. She has been recognized in ACBJ’s Chairman’s Club twice, once in 2016 and again in 2018. In 2016, she was ranked number eight overall in the country and number five in digital in the country. In 2018, Ashley sold the most she has sold in a year during her history with ACBJ.”

Judy Heinzelman passed away September 5, 2018, after a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. Judy was a sales executive at The Frederick News-Post for 17 years, and “She never gave up…not even when she announced her goal was insurmountable. She would always pull it out in the end if even by only a dollar.”
