The major work of the Association is done by committees of newspaper executives from throughout the MDDC region. In addition to marshalling and applying newspaper expertise in various disciplines, for most of the committees, participation is the main avenue to Association leadership.

Advertising Committee
This member service committee oversees MDDC's advertising programs: the Newspaper Impact Network, the Classified Ad Network and the 2x2 Ad Network. It assists in getting broader participation Association advertising programs and helps plan and stage advertising workshops. The committee also oversees the Association's Advertising contest, developing the categories, rules and guidelines, supervising the awards conference planning, and providing judges for reciprocal judging of editorial contests for other state press associations. Circulation Committee
This member service committee develops programs to help newspaper circulation professionals build and sustain their print circulation by coordinating professional development workshops on the subject. It also monitors the U.S. Postal Service's policies on newspaper delivery. Chairperson: Frank Schwind, WIN Consulting
Conventions and Conferences Committee
This member service committee plans the annual meeting and approves the location, program segments and speakers. It is chaired by the Association's President-Elect. Chairperson: Dennis Forney, Cape Gazette
Editorial Committee
This member service committee oversees the planning of the Association's newsroom skill development trainings and also oversees the Association's Editorial contest, developing the categories, rules and guidelines, supervising the awards conference planning, and providing judges for reciprocal judging of editorial contests for other state press associations. Finance Committee
This operational committee oversees the Association's investment plan, financial reports and cash management. It is chaired by the Association's Treasurer. Chairperson: Patricia Richardson, Carroll County Times
Government Affairs Committee
This member service committee oversees monitors legislative, judicial and executive agency activities affecting newspapers and recommends action to the Board of Directors. It promotes legislative initiatives in all areas of the business. Chairperson: Eric Lieberman, The Washington Post
Hall of Fame Committee
This operational committee is responsible for soliciting nominations and recommending candidates for the MDDC Newspaper Hall of Fame. Chairperson: Dennis Forney, Cape Gazette
