Associate Editor, Washingtonian Magazine, Washington DC

posted April 7

Washingtonian is looking for an ambitious magazine-maker who can edit our changing front-of-book section and write for it, too. The ideal candidate will have a head for magazine-craft, an ear for news, a sense of what the city is talking about, and a mind that can figure out when to channel those instincts into visually-driven print items, web-friendly quick hits, or written-through profiles. We want someone who will step out at night to events in search of story ideas, but develops enough Washington knowledge to put those ideas into smart context. Love for the English language, ability to improve complicated pieces of copy, and skill at working with a diverse cast of writers is a necessity—but so is the capacity to have ridiculous amounts of fun in the process. Also, we’d really like it if you were funny. Interested? Send cover letter and resume to associateeditorjob@washingtonian.com. Our magazine serves a diverse region and we’re eager to have a diverse pool of candidates. No phone calls, please.
