Science’s news section is seeking an energetic reporter to cover biomedicine, with an emphasis on neuroscience. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable writing about cutting edge research and about policy and ethics. She or he is driven to find untold stories and to get them out fast, and has an eye for developments that matter to both the neuroscience community and the wider world. We seek a person who is equally adept at writing breaking news for our website and longer analytical pieces and features for the weekly print issue.


The position is likely to be based in our Washington, DC office.


Minimum qualifications:

A bachelors' degree and some science background
A minimum of three years' experience in journalism, at least two of them covering biomedical science
Adept use of social media a plus
