Local Retail Inside Sales Consultant, Baltimore Sun Media Group

The Local Retail Inside Advertising Sales Representative is responsible for securing new business, managing established territory, handling inbound advertising sales calls, building strong relationships and growing customer accounts in order to exceed set sales goals, annual and quarterly initiatives

Responsibilities:

  • Identify new prospects through the use of dormant accounts, competitive media leads, local newspapers, direct mail and online advertising to secure new prospects for potential BSMG sales
  • Contact prospects/leads via telephone and e mail to secure new business
  • Maintain, build and grow existing customer relationships and revenue, overcoming customer buying objections; manage all aspects of the business relationship for customers and document all activity and accounts in ASK
  • Participate and support division initiatives by coordinating specials sections and contributing new/existing business sales (special advertising section sales, development of themed/seasonal banner features, etc.)
  • Identify new revenue streams from non-traditional advertisers and, with Sales Manager approval, initiate new products/feature development to create small business marketing solutions
  • Work collaboratively with outside sales team and support outside Local Retail Sales Reps extended absences, vacations, etc. to develop outside sales experience; participate in training programs, as requested
  • Meet assigned quarterly goals, revenue quotas and achieve all Telemarketing Advertising Sales Representative expectations
  • Apply feedback given to enhance success; Develop and grow personal skill set and knowledge of selling techniques and assigned products and services
  • Complete assigned work autonomously, with guidance from Sales Manager, as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or sales work experience
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, ability to meet set deadlines
  • Able to achieve quarterly revenue goals and division initiatives
  • Superior communication and follow through skills
  • Initiative, Drive and Persistence to succeed
  • Able to perform customer analysis and research for best outcome
