Reporter - US News and World Report, Washington DC

U.S. News & World Report (http://www.usnews.com/) is seeking a reporter to help develop a new rankings project in its News channel. This position involves extensive reporting and writing of stories drawn from data gathered about issues affecting the states and state/federal interaction. The ideal candidate will have had some policy and political reporting experience and be familiar with data sets managed by the federal and state governments. This position is located in Washington, D.C. 


  • Excellent reporting and research skills, ideally in an online or daily journalism environment. 
  • Two or more years of experience covering state and federal issues and politics.  
  • Experience with data-driven journalism. 
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines consistently. 
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills. 
  • Strong understanding of SEO. 
  • Experience with social media, including Twitter and Facebook. 
  • Familiarity with content management systems, HTML and Web production is a plus. 
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team. 
  • College degree or equivalent.
