APG Chesapeake acquires Southern MD Newspapers & Comprint

Easton, MD – Adams Publishing Group (APG) announced that effective July 1st it has acquired The Post Community Media Group’s Southern Maryland Newspapers and Comprint Military
Publications. This acquisition includes thirteen newspapers and their associated digital assets. The group includes three twice-weeklies, nine weeklies, and one bi-weekly publication covering Calvert,
Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties in Maryland, along with twelve military installations in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.

Prior to this acquisition, APG’s Maryland and Delaware properties consisted of two dailies The Star Democrat (Easton, MD) and Cecil Whig (Elkton, MD) along with ten weekly newspapers,
seven monthly/specialty magazines, six websites, and five mobile apps. These products cover nine counties in the two states, and each week nearly one million people read the content they

This purchase allows APG to further diversify and strengthen its holdings around the Chesapeake Region. APG’s Maryland, Virginia and DC properties will now include thirty-two publications,
nine websites, and six mobile apps. These products cover fifteen counties in the two states and the District of Columbia and each week nearly 1.4 million people read the content they produce.
With this transaction, APG also acquired the property in Waldorf where the Maryland Independent publication operates. This building, located at 7 Industrial Park Drive, will continue
to be the location of the Maryland Independent.

Media of Chesapeake were part of one company, Chesapeake Publishing & Printing, about a decade ago. This acquisition nearly doubles the size of our current business in the region, and we
see great synergies and opportunities bringing these two well established groups back together again,” said APG Media of Chesapeake President David Fike.

APG consists of five regional newspaper operations: APG Media of Chesapeake, APG Media of Ohio, APG Media of Wisconsin, APG Media of Northern Minnesota, and APG Media of
Southern Minnesota. This acquisition by family-owned Adams Publishing Group follows the January acquisition of the Dundalk Eagle outside of Baltimore, the 2014 acquisitions of The
Athens NEWS located in the southeastern part of Ohio, The Chronotype in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and Huckle Media located in Southern Minnesota with 10 community newspapers, 17 websites,
shopping guides, magazines, a digital agency and commercial printing facilities. In March 2014, Adams acquired three divisions of American Consolidated Media located in northern Minnesota,
Wisconsin, Ohio and Maryland with 34 print publications and related media operations. In addition to newspapers, the family has holdings in radio stations, the nation’s 4th largest
outdoor advertising company, commercial printing businesses, and Camping World/GoodSamthe largest camping-related retail chain and RV dealer network in the US.
