Ad Day to Feature Creative Workshop and Award Winners |
| Plan to attend MDDCs annual Advertising Day on April 27 featuring a
creative advertising workshop with Lynne Meena and the presentation of awards to winners
from the Best of MDDC 2000 Advertising Contest. Deadline to register for the day, being held at Marriotts Hunt Valley Inn, is April 23. Meena, a former creative vice president for the Newspaper Association of America, will start off the day with her program on "How to Make a Good Ad Better." Her interactive workshop covers techniques to create more effective ads. Participants will critique ad examples, improve their ability to recognize an ads key word or key image, pick up headline quickies, and learn how to create effective campaigns for advertisers. She will also present a slide show of 100 outstanding ads that demonstrate the creativity and flexibility in newspapers. Following the morning workshop will be the annual awards luncheon honoring winners from the 2000 Advertising Contest. This year more than 600 entries were submitted by 53 member newspapers. Certificates and Best of Show plaques will be presented to winners in the 12 contest categories. Sweepstakes awards will also be presented to the one newspaper in each of the five circulation divisions that accumulates the most contest points. The luncheon will also feature the slide show of winning entries again this year. Ad Day will also include a meeting of the MDDC Advertising Committee and the MDDC Board of Directors. Registration information and winners lists have been mailed to member newspapers and can also be found on the Web at www.mddcpress.com. |
