MDDC Seeks Hall of Fame Nominations

MDDC Press Association Hall of Fame Committee Chairman Jim Flood, Sr., publisher and chairman of the Dover Post Company, says the committee is seeking nominees for election to the MDDC Newspaper Hall of Fame in 2002.

"At a time when the news media are not held in very high regard by the public, according to various polls, it’s good common sense as well as a pleasant undertaking to cite individuals who measure up to the high standards of journalism which I am convinced reflect the aspirations of a majority of news-writing professionals," said Flood.

The requirements for nomination as adopted by the Association’s Board of Directors, are as follows:

1. Election to the Hall of Fame is a distinctive honor earned by an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the newspaper industry.

2. The nominated person must be, or have been, long employed at a newspaper that is a member of the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association or is eligible for membership. Posthumous selections may be made.

Each nomination is to be accompanied by a biography, not to exceed one typewritten page, and an 8x10 portrait-type color photograph.

Deadlines for nominations for induction in 2002 is November 1, 2001.

Use the form below to make your nomination, and send the material to Chairman Flood at the Dover Post or to the MDDC office in Crofton, MD.
