Baltimore-based Search Consultants Tabbed to Find New MDDC Director
MDDC board hopes new executive director can be selected by Jan. 1
MDDC Press Association has hired Steve Braun, head of Baltimore-based Search Consultants, to lead the search for a new executive director.
President Paul Milton, who announced the agreement, said Search Consultants specializes in helping nonprofits find top talent, particularly in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Milton and Vice President Suzanne Fischer-Huettner interviewed candidates and then the executive committee of the Board of Directors selected the firm.
Milton also announced a search committee of past and present board members to interview the candidates for
executive director, and to recommend a candidate to the Board of Directors. Milton and Fischer-Huettner will co-chair the committee.
Other members are Pat Richardson of the Capital-Gazette and Carroll County Times; Tom Marquardt, retired editor and publisher of the Capital; Chris Eddings of Dolan Media; Ben Phillips of the Afro newspapers; Geordie Wilson of the Frederick News Post; Jim McLaughlin of the Washington Post; Dennis Forney of the Cape Gazette in Lewes, DE; Denise Rolark Barnes of the Washington Informer and Mike Kilian of the Salisbury Daily Times.
Braun has begun conducting a "needs analysis" as part of his pre-search preparation. The goal is to have pre-screened candidates for the search committee to interview in about six weeks, and to have a finalist by Jan. 1.
