Digitial Quality Contest Deadline Approaching

America East Contest Highlights Best in Digital Media
Does your publication have a great website? Entries are currently being accepted for consideration in the 2013 America East Digital Quality contest. But don’t wait, because entries are due Monday, Jan. 14.

Each entry will be judged based on its design/structure, creativity/innovation, community participation, use of multimedia features, ease of use and editorial content. New categories include best home page, best interaction with readers, best design and best overall use of social media. The awards will be presented at America East on April 8.

Media guru Ken Doctor will be the keynote speaker for the 2013 America East Technology and Operations Conference, April 8-10 in Hershey, Pa.

Doctor, who spent 21 years with Knight-Ridder, is a news media analyst for Newsonomics and Harvard's Nieman Journalism Lab. He’s also author of “Newsonomics: 12 New Trends That Will Shape the News You Get,”

Doctor will open the conference with insight on the age of crossover. The news industry, like its cousins in entertainment, now faces the point of audience and ad crossover. The same revolutions sweeping movies, music and TV are transforming our news business. Doctor finds the good news for publishers among the many challenges, and will share best practices that are beginning to form the core of next-generation business models.
