MDDC releases report on PIA in Maryland

MDDC released a report detailing the number of Public Information Act requests local governments typically get in a year, how those requests are handled, the number of requests that are denied, charges that are assessed across the state for search or copying costs and the amount of money that local governments spend on legal fees associated with PIA requests. Click here for the full report.

Legislative update

Maryland legislature sees significant turnover in the committees which consistently hear MDDC issues. We will be reaching out to key legislators to educate them on our primary issues of public notice and open government.

The D.C. Open Government Coalition presented an Open Government Action Plan to Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser, with the hope that her administration would move quickly to implement the five-part transparency initiative. MDDC participated in the development of this plan.  Read the full report.
