| Michael S. Powell, managing editor of The Frederick News-Post, has been
nominated to lead the MDDC Press Association for the next year. The complete officer slate nominated by the Associations Executive Committee and scheduled to be voted on by the Board of Directors at the Annual Business Meeting February 22 follows: President: Michael Powell, The Frederick News-Post Powell has been managing editor of The News-Post since 1986. Before coming to Frederick, he was a reporter and assistant city editor at the Baltimore News American from 1973 to 1986. He also did part-time reporting and commentary for Maryland Public Television from 1975 to 1987. John League, editor and publisher of The Herald-Mail in Hagerstown, has been nominated to join the MDDC officer corps as treasurer, putting him in rotation toward the presidency. He currently chairs the MDDC Hall of Fame Committee, as well as serving on the Professional Development and Government Affairs committees. League has worked at The Herald-Mail since May 1979 when he joined the staff as a bureau reporter. He has held a variety of positions at the newspapaer, including city editor, managing editor, executive editor, and for the last five years, publisher. |
