Bob Hough and Alexander A. Pyles have been named the new prep sports editors at the Annapolis Capital and Baltimore Sun, respectively.

Hough, 39, has been a part-time writer for the paper’s preps section for the last 17 years, and will take over Dec. 1. Hough was previously an instructor and business manager at the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland (BIM) in Baltimore.

Pyles, 26, took over the Sun’s prep pages, titled “Varsity” at the paper’s website, on Sept. 9. A 2009 graduate of University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC), Pyles earned a master’s degree from the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism, where he is a lecturer. He previously covered the State House for the Daily Record and was an editor at AOL’s Patch website.

Pyles was a 2008 MDDC Reese Cleghorn intern at the News Journal in Wilmington, Del.
