Two UMD Students Win $2000 MDDC Scholarships

Two MDDC journalism scholarships for $2000 each have been awarded to students at the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Amy Silva and Heather Lloyd, both juniors, received the MDDC Scholarships.

Lloyd, who also received the MDDC scholarship last year, is assistant news editor of the Diamondback, the campus daily newspaper. She is from Owings Mills, MD, where she worked on her Owings Mills High School newspaper. She will intern this summer at The Baltimore Sun.

Silva, was a student reporter in the College’s Capital News Service Annapolis Bureau last semester. She is currently a reporter and designer for Maryland Newsline, the College’s online weekly news magazine. She is a transfer student from Vassar College and has been active as a reporter and editor with the Diamondback.
