Awards and Creative Workshop are Highlights of Advertising Day |
| The best in newspaper advertising in the MDDC region was honored at the
recent Advertising Day at the Hunt Valley Inn where more than 300 awards were presented to
advertising executives and designers. The day also featured an advertising workshop by Lynne Meena, former creative vice president for the Newspaper Association of America. Meenas session included tips on making creative and effective advertisements and a slide show of top ads from newspapers around the country. Following the workshop was the presentation of awards in each of the 12 contest categories across five circulation divisions. A Best of Show award was presented in the 12 categories as well as sweepstakes awards for the newspapers garnering the most individual award points in their respective circulation divisions. The sweepstakes winners for the 2000 Advertising Contest are:
"The quality of the entries was very good, with a lot of new approaches to creative style," said Patsy Coleman, ad manager for the MDDC Press Service. The awards ceremony featured a slide presentation of the first place and best of show winners. In addition to the awards, the MDDC Advertising Committee and FOI Sub-committee met during the day.
