MDDC Celebrates Excellence at the Editorial and Advertising Awards program

Along with the work showcased, MDDC awarded top honors in the Advertising Sweepstakes Awards in each of four divisions and Newspaper of the Year in six divisions. The Advertising Sweepstakes winners are: Frederick News-Post (Division A), Delaware State News (Division B), Coastal Point (Division C), Cape Gazette (Division D). The Newspaper of the Year winners are: The Baltimore Sun (Division A), Frederick News-Post (Division B), Carroll County Times (Division C), The Aegis (Division D), Howard County Times (Division E), Baltimore Business Journal (Division F).

MDDC honored The Daily Times, of Salisbury, MD, with the James S. Keat Freedom of Information Award for general assignment reporter Jennifer Shutt’s persistent pursuit of hidden or secret files on her beat. This prestigious award honors the MDDC newspaper that made the most outstanding effort in 2013 to “gain access to public records, pursue open meetings or address other FOI issues.” The Daily Time's editorial work is led by Mike Kilian, Executive Editor, who has been with the paper since March of 2013.
