Proudly Serving Maryland, Delaware and D.C. Newspapers Since 1908

Membership open to all news media organizations

Posted October 21, 2016

MDDC recognizes that modern journalism takes many forms and news media empowers and informs readers and views on a variety of platforms. Over the past years, the board has worked to make the membership requirements more reflective of the current landscape.  At the September 2016 board meeting, the directors voted to revised Section 2 to allow active membership to news organizations that are based in and focused on Maryland, Delaware or the District of Columbia, regardless of delivery platform.  Organizations must use recognized standards of professional journalism and be principally devoted to the dissemination of local or general news.  Click here for the full bylaws.

What does this mean?  In addition to our traditional media members, such as newspapers, MDDC welcomes online-only news sites, monthly magazines, TV, and radio organizations.  It's all about local or general news, using recognized standards of professional journalism.
