     MDDC is gearing up for the 2000 Editorial Contest recognizing editorial excellence in the newspapers of Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.
     Deadline for entries is Friday, Jan. 5, 2001. They must be received in the MDDC office by 5 p.m. that day.
     The contest is open to staff members of newspapers in the Association. It features 32 separate categories in each of six circulation divisions, plus a special Freedom of Information award.
      First and second place winners are awarded certificates. A Best of Show plaques in each category and Newspaper of the Year awards are presented as well.
     The awards will be presented at the MDDC Editorial Awards Luncheon Feb. 23, 2001 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Frederick.
     Information packages will be mailed Nov. 15 to editors and publishers of member newspapers and will also be posted on the MDDC Web site at www.mddcpress.com.
