American Profile Launches NE Edition

     The Northeast edition of American Profile, a full-color national magazine with regional content produced for small community newspapers, was launched this month.
      American Profile began publishing in April and currently has a circulation of more than 1.8 million in the Midwest and Southeast regions of the U.S. It is the first weekly, newspaper magazine produced for weekly and smaller daily newspapers.
      The Northeast region includes Delaware and Maryland, as well as Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.
      Each edition of the magazine includes regular features such as regional selections of Hometown Heroes, Close-To-Home calendars of events, plus national stories on celebrities with hometown ties, health trends, entertainment and current issues. Each issue also includes a profile of a hometown in that region.
      Publishing Group of America, publisher of American Profile, is contracting with newspapers for national distribution of five regional editions by early 2001.
