MDDC Student Journalist Programs Under Way

Like the new school year, MDDC Press Association’s programs to support student journalists also recently got under way.

Applications and other materials were sent to all area colleges and high schools for participation in the Association’s summer 2002 internship program and the MDDC Press Foundation’s High School Journalist of the Year Award.

In the eight-week internship program, MDDC selects up to 10 interns, pays each one $300 a week and offers supervisory assistance if needed. Participating newspapers are expected to cover their business expenses and any income taxes.

Newspapers interested in participating should contact MDDC Executive Director Jim Donahue.

In the Foundation’s high school program, the winning student will receive a $1,500 cash prize and be honored at the MDDC Winter Convention in 2002.

Applications for both programs are posted on the Association’s Web site at www.mddcpress.com.
