Resources for the general public
News media publications are anchors in their communities. Below are various resources geared to the general public.
End rolls (also known as butt rolls) of newsprint
Printers sometimes have leftover newsprint on the end of the rolls they use to print the newspaper. Some organizations sell them to the general public.
- Frederick News Post (351 Ballenger Center Drive, Frederick, MD 21703, 301-662-1177), go to the front desk, and the prices are listed.
- APG Chesapeake (29088 Airpark Drive, Easton, MD 21601). Supply is often limited, so call ahead to Greg Moir, pressroom manager, at 410-770-4127.
Letters to the editor / op-eds
Publications are interested in hearing from community members. Websites for all of our members are listed on our advertising resource page. Each organization's website will list contact information for letters to the editor and op-eds. The Press Association also offers a member directory which lists editorial, calendar and sales contacts, along with an expanded profile of each member. The directory is free for members, and $50 for non-members.
